When will Gordon go ?

Despite Labour winning barely 15% of the popular vote in the nationwide Euro elections, still Gordon Brown seems to want to cling to power.

Labour has faced its worst results since its establishment as a national party in the 1920s. The election results are a triumph for right of centre and Euro sceptic parties. Here is the inimitable Daniel Hannan calling for Gordon Brown to go in the early hours of this morning in Southampton as he resecured his seat as an MEP in the South East of England.

The great Daniel Hannan

Thank you to my blogging friend Joanie, who brought this speech to my attention from the other side of the Atlantic. Maybe a case of a prophet being without honour in his own country.....

I have heard Daniel Hannan speak in the past in Kent and he is a rare breed, someone unafraid to take a lonely path or court controversey in pursuit of what he believes in.

He has really become the man of the hour at a time when Britain seems to be becoming buried in its own debt. Daniel Hannan has undoubted gifts as an orator and he offers hope of a challenge to the status quo. If only he could assume a greater role in his party.

He is great in this speech and it is no surprise it has become a youtube hit with over a million views (comparing very favourably to the usual number of views his speeches get as a Conservative MEP for South East England !) . I encourage anyone who has not seen it, to watch it. It is in the European Parliament and Gordon Brown, despite only being shown once, is present and is the intended audience !

Saving the World

Sometimes no further comment is needed. Here is Gordon Brown making a slip of the tongue and perhaps revealling his real inflated view of his own abilities:

Gordon's in the house

Prime Minister-to-be Gordon Brown came into our office today !

Or to be strictly truthful, he came into the same building as where I work. I work in a large 6 storey, former government building that is now owned by the media giant Bloomberg. My firm rents a couple of floors which includes the floor where I work.

"Gordon" came to see Bloomberg to mark the date when he became the unopposed candidate to replace Tony Blair. I didn't see Gordon as he is hardly a rock star and it would have looked a bit strange if we'd all run to the front of the building to see him.

My colleague Stavros showed no such inhibitions. Non-smoking Stavros accompanied regular smoker Sheila to the bus stop at the front of the building. There was still a no show from Gordon when Sheila finished her "fag". So Stavros loyally stayed outside until Gordon emerged and then came back to work a satisfied customer. This was the same Stavros who managed to forward me (and others) two emailed jokes in the first hour of work yesterday morning. Stavros is no workaholic !

We then all heard the Police sirens and Gordon disappeared. That's as close as I get to celebrities in my office :-(

The bogeyman cometh.............

The attached link of a Youtube film hosted by political blogger Guido is not pleasant, not for the faint hearted and not really educational.

It does however shed some unpleasant light on the likely future Prime Minister of Britain....

The Future Prime Minister says vote Shilpa

Or so, the London papers are reporting this evening. Gordon Brown is said to be a backer of Shilpa while visiting a Bollywood Studio on his visit to India.

I think he actually means vote Jade as you have to vote for the person you want to be evicted !

"Normal" non-Celebrity Big Brother posts to resume shortly.............
